A young French officer, Lt. André Duvalier (Jack Nicholson), encounters a mysterious woman on the coast. When she disappears without explanation, his search leads him to the sinister castle of Baron von Leppe (Boris Karloff). There he discovers a portrait of the Baron’s long-dead wife that bears an uncanny resemblance to the woman he has encountered — and begins to uncover a terrifying history of witchcraft, murder and supernatural intrigue.
Made in 1963 and produced and directed by legendary filmmaker Roger Corman, The Terror is one of the great oddities of American Gothic horror.
A CAST OF LEGENDS
Boris Karloff — the unforgettable star of Frankenstein, The Mummy and countless classic horror films — delivers one of his final great Gothic performances as the enigmatic Baron von Leppe.
Opposite him is a young Jack Nicholson, years before Easy Rider, Chinatown and The Shining, in one of his earliest leading roles.
